Film-making has proved a very exciting way of engaging with young people. We work with young people’s ideas and cover all elements of film making from MIND MAPPING, story boards and scripts through to filming, editing AND PRODUCTION. We often utilise this process as a way of exploring difficult issues with young people as well as building confidence and skills in film production. As a Community Interest Company, we value the input of volunteers in our organisation. A new venture which started in May 2011 sees our first mobile community team bringing essential services into people’s homes in the local community. With a qualified electrician in the team, we can carry out jobs on any scale incorporating electrics works and general DIY and building works. Our friendly team are considerate of people’s needs and we consider a personal touch to be an essential part of our service.

As well as working with children and young people in schools, at our studio, and within youth groups in their urban communities, we see great value in the work that can be done when individuals are removed from their normal environment and have the opportunity to access rural locations and interact with each other and our staff in a completely novel setting. Having worked on various government initiatives around youth and community, most recently providing back-to-work routes for young people aged 18-24, we have provided training from in-house sessions on equal opportunities and safeguarding to accredited level 3 OCN qualifications. Level 3 OCN in Youth Work Over the last 18 months, we have created our own Level 3 qualification, Skills for Youth and Community, which is accredited through the Open College Network. Martial Arts Syconium CIC is affiliated with a designated martial arts centre (the centrally-based Tao Centre) where we can organise training in various styles of martial arts. This covers general health and fitness, self defence and advanced combat skills. The sessions are successful in developing self discipline and confidence as well as building physical strength and flexibility. As part of our work at the music studio and through support work with young people, we are able to identify talented individuals and groups. From here we can offer support and guidance to help promote and develop talented people to take their music further. One of our new ventures will be to open a record label dedicated to the promotion of these artists. Watch this space!  

If you want to organise your own event, we can work with you to make your ideas happen. We will be there from start to finish, we can help source a venue, organise music, arrange for footage to be recorded, incorporate interviews, photography, and assist with promotion and advertising etc
